CASology – Funky

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – FUNKY!

Here is my take:

You're so Vintage | by karen h @ carefree creations

This was actually my week to come up with the challenge cue. And when it came time for me to stamp for the challenge, I blanked! I hate when that happens! I did struggle for a bit, but after the gazillionth time in looking through my index, my eyes caught on this vintage sentiment. I immediately decided to do a 70s theme card!

I love earthy tones, so this was pretty fun to put together! The sentiment is fussy cut, layered on gold glitter paper, and fussy cut again.

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

You're Sweet | by karen h @ carefree creations

I was a little unsure what to do with these colors, but my kiddo thought the light colors made them think of cotton candy. That got my mind going and this card came together.

CASology – Bounce

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – BOUNCE!

Here is my take:

Bounce Back | by karen h @ carefree creations

A few of my fellow DT members did balls for this cue (and great cards, so I didn’t think I could add anything), so I thought about other ways to do bounce. This saying was something I’d heard in my youth.

I didn’t have any stamps for the sentiment and spelling it out with alphabets was more than I could handle at the time, lol. Instead, I picked out a font and printed it directly on the card stock.

CC&S #310 – Full of Sunshine

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Full of Sunshine | by karen h @ carefree creations

I was stumped a little by this sketch, but after going through my supply index, I found the cloud die and worked from there.

The border/edge dies were used to cut the non straight sides; the stitched frame die did the perforations on the straight sides. My first thought was the dies would go edge to edge, but once I added the stitched sides and then trimmed them the same margin as the curved edges, then the die was shorter than the card. I actually liked that look!

CASology – Furbaby

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – FURBABY!

Here is my take:

You Are Pawesome | by karen h @ carefree creations

I’ve always had cats. We got a dog about 7 1/2 years ago. I still prefer cats – but it is amazing how much love a dog can give! Cat and dog stamp sets are a plenty in my inventory. Picking one was hard! I hadn’t used this one yet, so that made the decision easier.

The die cut portion of the sentiment is stacked 3 times.

CC&S #309 – You Make Life Zingy

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

You Make Life Zingy | by karen h @ carefree creations

Since I did yellow flowers a couple weeks ago, I wanted to do something different. I decided lemons. I only have this one from PaperSmooches. It comes with a smiley face (with pucker lips), but since red/pink wasn’t a color in the challenge, I decided to leave the face off.

I used 2 yellow Copic markers and tried not to blend them too much to show the different yellows from the color scheme.

Sadly I didn’t have a sentiment that worked, so I had to make my own. The first bit is a phrase from another set (yay – it was already in that order – no fussy stamping!!), the “zingy” is made with an alphabet set. The alphabet set has each letter with a couple different fonts. In putting it together, I decided to use the ZIGY in the same simple font and the N with the fancy font – I think it turned out great!

CASology – Wave

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – WAVE!

Here is my take:

Thanks for Keeping Me Afloat | by karen h @ carefree creations

I’ve had this set for awhile (I’m a sucker for doodle/zentangle images), but hadn’t used it yet. As I was designing this, I had to keep controlling myself to keep it CAS!

A couple notes about the sentiment: (1) The first bit, I cut the stamp apart and curved it before stamping. (2) Regarding the final bit of the sentiment, I wanted it centered in the label punch, but with the flourish on the t, it felt off balance. To fix that, I turned the stamp around and inked just a tiny bit of the end flourish and stamped it at the beginning of the word. Perfect!

CC&S #308 – Muah

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Muah | by karen h @ carefree creations

This lip set is so fun, but I don’t use it often. I saw the set when I was deciding what to stamp for last week’s color challenge. I do wish there was couple more sizes in the set (something smaller than the largest and smaller than the smallest).

I kinda wish I had done a darker color for the sentiment (to stand out against the dark pink lips), but I didn’t want to do black. Pretty sure it is still readable enough.

CASology – Bouquet

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – BOUQUET!

Here is my take:

So Very Grateful | by karen h @ carefree creations

I love flowers and that is where my mind went immediately with the “bouquet” cue. Later I came up with other ideas (like wine), but no stamps for that – and really, I was so happy with how this turned out that I didn’t want to try again.

The bouquet image was stamped, colored, and then fussy cut.

Normally, I always reach for black ink (as I did for the outline and sub-sentiment), but when I contemplated how the card would look with the banner sentiment in black, I decided that would be too heavy. Green worked perfectly.

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Hogs & Kisses | by karen h @ carefree creations

I love this Piggy set – pretty sure I’ve said that any time I post a card with this set. When I saw these colors, I knew I’d use this set again – and there was an image I hadn’t used yet, so….it just made sense 🙂

Such a fun image – love those little kissy lips! The lips are were I used the dark pink color.

The grey is very lightly watercolored around the piggy.
